Liiar Analysis Double Page Spread Q Music Magazine

The main focus on this double page spread is to introduce the main story about Noel Gallagher. You know that it’s him straight away as you can relate the two images too each other before you read anything on the page to confirm who the artist is. He’s positioned in a very similar way to the image on the front cover. His name isn't actually stated in the title on the page that relates to a quote from Noel Gallagher or a fragment of speech that he would use. There isn't a lot of text on the double page spread it’s mainly taken up by the image, background and title. It’s only an introduction into a large text about Noel Gallagher following onto the next few pages in the magazine. The text on the double page spread gives you an insight into the story that it’s about to tell you about Noel Gallagher and his continuous fight with work to be successful and his true love for music that he will never give up on it. The title says ‘job’s a good un’ it’s spelt in slang like this reflecting Noel Gallagher’s accent and the dialect he delivers. This is to show off his personality through image and text rather than meeting him in person. The writing is in big bold print relating to his personality being bold and him standing out from the crowd.

Q magazine is published by Bauer media group. It is originally from Germany but sells in 15 different countries worldwide including the UK. The company was founded in 1875 and has been privately owned and run by the Bauer family for generations. It is know that 38 million magazines are sold per week of Q magazine’s weekly edition. From this information I can tell that Q magazine is hugely liked by the public and is a favorite music magazine worldwide.

The ideology of this double page spread is to entice the reader to read more into the story about Noel Gallagher. This is brought to the reader’s attention due to the iconic image of Noel Gallagher himself and the catchy heading. The article will appeal to most Q magazine readers and specifically people that are a big fan of Noel Gallagher himself or the band Oasis he split from in 2009. The image has been taken of him from a straight angle he’s looking right into the camera almost as if he’s looking at you as a reader. There are no real implicit values all explicit directly telling us what the article is all about and who it’s about because of the image of Noel Gallagher. The small amount of writing gives a lot away about the article but not too much it leaves you wanting to read on more into the article about his life since 2009 when Oasis split up. Because Noel Gallagher has kept his career quiet since Oasis I think this edition of Q magazine will be valuable to his biggest fans as one of the biggest things he’s done for a long time relating to the public and being in the public eye. He talks about his fans on this page saying ‘Nobody’s got  the formula, it’s the people who decide’ this relates hugely to his fans and sort of praising them in a way saying thank you for getting him where he is today because it’s certainly not easy.

Q magazine is known to be suitable for an older audience and mainly bought by older generations I think that younger people more recently will have started to buy Q magazine more. This is partly because I know people that read Q magazine that are my age and I have bought the magazine myself in the past. The magazine is becoming more suited to the younger generation as well as the old. Because the magazine is expensive social class is important when buying Q magazine people with little money are not going to buy the magazine as it is not a necessity. People in a higher social class will be more likely to buy the magazine as a luxury as they will be able to afford it much more generously. This also stops the magazine been main stream and separates it from the average music magazine out there on the market.

The image of Noel Gallagher on the double page spread brings so much emotion to the article before you even begin to read it. The way he is stood and the position he is stood in insinuates a lot of attitude. He is wearing the same clothes as on the contents page image and on the front cover image. This is so that readers recognize him without reading the article encouraging them to stop and read about him more. The colors he is wearing are browns, blacks and blues. Theses dark colors link in with the deep emotion he shows. You can see his wedding ring clearly on this image this could be to introduce the readers to his life just by looking at the imagine and to tell us that he is married before you read on more into the story and discover this for yourself. The fact that there is a huge article on him in Q magazine in the first place shows that he is a well-loved iconic music artist that people do look up to and want to know more about his life. If this wasn't the case he wouldn't be on the main pages of this music magazine like the front cover, the contents page and a whole other 9 pages about him including more writing and images.  In all of these images he is featured on his own and not with anybody else this relates to the story inside the magazine about him splitting from the rest of the band Oasis and carrying on as a solo artist and not giving up on the dream he lived and loved for so many years previously.
